Special Announcements For 2008

Enclosed with this announcement is an application for the Quad Cities Senior Olympics. Please complete the application, sign the appropriate waiver, and mail all of the documents to the above address with a check or money order made out for the proper amount or you can register online at http://www.active.com/ qcseniorolympics beginning April 2nd.

Special items of interest to you when completing the forms follow.

1. In order to accommodate construction and track resurfacing at Augustana College, the session I track and field events have been moved to Browning Field at 1821 Avenue of the Cities, Moline, IL 61265 and will be held on Friday, June 20. Athletes competing at Browning Field will pick up their number at the track (Preregistered and later registration.) (T-shirts will be picked up at PepsiCo.)

2. Special deadlines apply for some events this year. Archery participants must complete their forms and return them to our office by June 1, 2008.

3. The Archery Event will be held this year on June 7, 2008. This is an adjustment to accommodate those wishing to attend another major Midwest event taking place on the normal date for our Senior Olympics participants. The time for the event will remain 8:00 AM and will be held at the Davenport Valley Archers facility, located at 270th Street, Long Grove, IA 52756. It is located 4 tenths of a mile West of Long Grove, IA.

4. All applications for the Literary, Heritage, and Visual Arts must be received in the QCSO office by 4:00 PM on June 4, 2008. Poetry-Free Verse, Poetry-Rhyming, Fiction, and Non-Fiction Manuscripts much accompany the applications and be in our office, at the above address, by 4:00 PM, on June 4, 2008.

5. There will be a late fee of $5.00 charged after June 6, 2008. Applications received in our office after June 6, 2088 will only receive a t-shirt if supply is available. Applications received on, or before, June 6, 2008 will receive 18th Annual Games shirt.

6. Please refer to our web site for General and Specific rules related to the 18th Annual games, being held June 19-21, 2008. The address for our site is provided in the letterhead above.

7.Additional applications can be downloaded from our web site, picked up at local Hy-Vee Grocery Stores and Branches of American Bank. Local Athletic Stores and area Y’s will also have applications. Call our office for a list of those stores and Y’s with applications. You may also call our office to request additional applications. If you cannot participate this year, and receive a “packet”, please pass it along to an eligible friend so he/she can enter and make our games grow.

8. SPECIAL NOTE: Registration fee has been reduced from $20 to $15 for unlimited events to encourage additional participation.
