Special Announcements For 2009

Enclosed with this announcement is an application for the Quad Cities Senior Olympics. Please complete the application, sign the appropriate waiver, and mail all of the documents to the above address with a check or money order made out for the proper amount.

Special items of interest to you:

1. Track and field events will be held at Ericson Stadium at Augustana College with opening ceremonies (no meal) Friday, June 26, at 5:00 pm and closing ceremonies (with meal) Saturday, June 27, at 4:00 pm.

2. New events include softball and football accuracy throws, soccer accuracy kicking, and basketball “around the world.”

3. The Archery Event will be held this year on June 20, 2009. Archery participants must complete their forms and return them to our office by June 14, 2009. The time for the event is 8:00 AM and will be held at the Davenport Valley Archers facility, located at 270th Street, Long Grove, IA 52756. It is located 4 tenths of a mile West of Long Grove, IA.

4. All applications for the Literary, Heritage, and Visual Arts must be received in the QCSO office by 4:00 PM on June 9, 2009. Poetry-Free Verse, Poetry-Rhyming, Fiction, and Non-Fiction Manuscripts must accompany
the applications and be in the QCSO office at the above address by 4:00 PM, on June 9, 2009.

5. There will be a late fee of $5.00 charged after June 17, 2009. Applications received in our office after June 17, 2009 will only receive a t-shirt if supply is available. Applications received on, or before, June 17, 2009 will receive the 19th Annual Games shirt.

6. Please refer to our web site for General and Specific rules related to the 19th Annual games being held June 25-27, 2009. The address for our site is provided in the letterhead above.

7. Additional applications can be downloaded from our web site, picked up at local Hy-Vee Grocery Stores and Branches of American Bank. Local Athletic Stores and area Y’s will also have applications. Call our office for a list of those stores and Y’s with applications. You may also call our office to request additional applications. If you cannot participate this year, and receive a “packet,” please pass it along to an eligible friend so he/she can enter.

8. SPECIAL NOTE: Registration fee remains the same at $15 for unlimited events. To encourage additional participation, a new participant and a prior participant submitting their registrations together pay only the $15 fee for one participant.
